What is the U.S. Expeditionary Karate Team?
The U.S. Expeditionary Karate Team is composed of those who medal at a Tournament X competition in our WKF Youth Karate 1 divisions (U14, cadet, juniors). Selected medalist from the Tournament X competition are funded to compete in WKF Youth Karate-1 international tournaments.

The mission is simple.
Assemble the very best junior karate athletes in the U.S.; Give them access to the best karate camps and sport development programs available; Give them financial support, and then turn them loose on the WKF Youth Karate-1 circuit to represent and medal for the United States as a united team.

How it Works
Tournament X Team Selection events will occur prior to select WKF Youth Karate-1 international tournaments.

Any athlete that will be ages 12 yrs. to 17yrs. at the time of the upcoming K-1 event can compete to make the team for that event.

A new team will be selected for each Youth Karate-1 tournament. There are no ranking, membership fees, or prior event participation requirements for the team selection event.

The only requirement for team selection is the athlete's participation in the Tournament X Camp associated with that team selection event.

Individual athletes selected for the upcoming Youth K-1 event team will be funded to compete as US Expeditionary Karate Team members which includes Airfare, Hotel, Competition fees, and pre-event training.

Tournament X Scholarships
Consistent wth our mission to support our Junior Karate Athletes at all levels, Tournament X will be providing a limited number of scholarship aid packages to select athletes, up to age 20, who are in need. Scholarship aid packages may take the form of equipment and/or funds to cover travel and competition expenses.

All Elite division medalist will make the U.S. Expeditionary Karate Team Pool

The First Place finishers from each elite team trial division will be funded.

In order to determine the best competitors, these Team Selection divisons will be conducted in a either a repechage or 'round robin' format as determined by the number of competitors.
